Inservice Designed to Meet the Unique Needs of Your District

The National Writing Project at Rutgers is a federally authorized professional development provider under No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Committed to the philosophy of “Teachers Teaching Teachers,” NWP @ Rutgers works to raise achievement by improving the teaching of writing in New Jersey schools. NWP@ Rutgers works in consultation with school administrators and faculty to design multiyear inservice series that are responsive to the strengths and needs of teachers and school communities. Our programs provide opportunities for sustained learning over time. Based on specific needs that administrators, curriculum specialists, or department chairs identify, we deliver tailored inservice programs for NJ school districts.  We offer varied levels of support that may include one or more of the following services:
  • annual inservice series composed of half and full-day workshops
  • study groups
  • teacher coaching
  • one or two-week site-based summer writing institute
  • off-campus graduate courses
  • study group
All of our workshops are centered on research-supported, classroom-tested ideas.  They are presented by our teacher consultants, experienced and accomplished New Jersey teachers who have successfully completed our Invitational Summer Institute as well as additional training.  NWP@Rutgers'  inservice programs are based on the National Writng Project model.  We would welcome the opportunity to discuss how the National Writing Project at Rutgers can design an inservice program for your district.
